After several years of collaborating with Kanye West, John Legend released his debut studio album, Get Lifted, in 2004. With his silky vocals on hits like “Ordinary People,” Get Lifted was named Best R&B Album at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Since then, he has become an EGOT winner, as well as a beloved coach on NBC’s The Voice. The “Green Light” singer is also a big fan of the holiday season, releasing his first Christmas album, A Legendary Christmas, in 2018. This year, Disney’s Magical Christmas Day Parade returned with a festive performance from Legend.
John Legend Takes On Donny Hathaway Classic
Decked out in red head to toe, John Legend arrived at Disneyland dressed for the occasion. The Voice star lent his velvety vocals to “This Christmas,” first recorded by Donny Hathaway in 1978.
A diverse range of artists, including Patti LaBelle, Christina Aguilera and Lady A, have covered the festive tune. Legend added his own soulful cover to that repertoire during his Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade.
Legend has been touring across the country over the past few months for his A John Legend Christmas concert series. The tour wrapped Dec. 21 in Hanover, Maryland.
