The Got Talent shows have a reputation for unearthing hidden gems, especially when talent is concealed beneath an “unsuspecting façade.” This audition is a prime example of why it’s a mistake to judge a book by its cover.

Leon Lee, a 19-year-old university student, stepped onto the Australia’s Got Talent stage dressed casually in a T-shirt, hoodie, and high-top Adidas trainers, looking every bit the laid-back college student. The judges, unimpressed by his appearance, seemed ready to write him off, particularly when Leon revealed that his only singing experience came from performing in his own bedroom.

And when he says he’s going to sing Luther Vandross’s “Dance With My Father” they are clearly thinking it’s not going to turn out well. But then Leon starts singing and shock ripples across the judges table all the way through the auditorium. He’s unbelievable!
